Understanding the real significance why search.io integration with Algolia and Frega’s integration

with Algolia is a Woohoo for Knowledgeplus

especially when you consider the two main approaches to how information is searched:

  1. Keywords
  2. Semantics includes keywords, determining the intent and contextual meaning of words

Who is Algolia

Algolia is an Ai-powered search and discovery platform for dynamic experiences that help businesses maximize the speed of search and discovery, in receiving what they requested.

Accessing the right content or products on websites and apps has become faster and more intuitive.

Algolia recently acquired search.io . An acquisition that instantly accelerates:

  • the delivery of new features in semantic search technology
  • enhances the distribution of the technology across hundreds of data centers globally.
  • optimises Algolia uptime reliability,
  • enhances massive scalability,
  • access to additional features recommendation and personalization
  • access to the world’s only API-First Search and Discovery platform with a hybrid search engine, which comprises both keyword and semantic search in a single API.
  • a new hybrid engine that is fast,
  • a cost-effective proven return on investment

Algolia Disrupts

Click on the article link to read about the importance of how this acquisition creates a world-first and only hybrid search engine combining Keyword and Vector Search in a single API, enabling retailers to capture an additional 70% long tail business at 90% less cost.

From this article these are the key points to take note of:

  • The search landscape is shifting significantly. According to a Google study, Google isn’t even the search destination for 40% of GenZs. TikTok and Instagram are, because GenZ’s are looking for immersive experiences, and don’t use keywords any more.
  • 74% of shoppers believe text-based search is ineffective.

That three trends are shaping the future of search:

  • Going beyond keyword Search with semantic search, image search, voice search via an underlying vector search engine or knowledge graph
  • Providing a composable, immersive application experience, discovery being a key component
  • Use of AI to process real time signals and customer behavior to personalize end user experience, and correspondingly inform key business decisions

Who is Search.io

Search.io provides everything someone would need to drive better results for search and discovery.

Whether customers are searching or browsing sites Search.io Ai powered engine and APIs deliver a consistent experience with great results.

Since day one, Search.io mission was to make it possible for any business to add Ai-powered search and discovery to their site with an all new, built from the ground up search engine. They pioneered:

  • the use of search pipelines for ease of customization,
  • reinforcement learning for improving ranking,
  • more recently, Neuralsearch™ to deliver better relevance.

Googles recent update

To summarise Google launched multi-search which they consider one of their most significant updates that search in the google app by taking a photo and asking a question at the same time.

The intent is to personalise what you want, whether you know what the part is or not and to search for local information instantly

Googles multi-modal understanding is to recognize the visual intricacies of objects and things within a single frame or if more information the bigger picture is required with an advancement that google is calling scene exploration. Where data can be compared and options contrasted and reviews online can be looked up.

This could also be called a Semantic search that includes keywords, and determining the intent and contextual meaning

Google’s algorithm searches out Web pages for keywords that are searched for on the internet. It then assigns a rank to each page based several factors, including how many times the keywords appear on the page

Although Google has had 8 major algorithm updates The Page Experience Update is Google’s core algorithm.

What is Knowledgeplus

Frega have integrated the Algolia API’s into its system architecture and at this first phase is indexing KP content to maximise its super App Knowledge Plus.

Knowledgeplus (KP) is a tool about to be deployed that engages the natural human flow of communication, and transaction to the internet and provides a compelling revenue model for publishers to share knowledge in exchange for growing and amplified revenue.

KP data by anyone can be published, managed and accessed on any content and also links shared to build an audience of followers

There is no cost to reading and commenting on answers.

A monthly subscription fee of 12.5 domicile currency applies

  • when a person wants to answer questions, publish original content and access the Publisher Dashboard where they are able to manage practically all their responses to anything they have ever published ( could be years of content/research).
  • 30% of this recurring fee is returned as productive income and an appreciating asset. The income flow and asset appreciation will grow within a few months where it exceeds the publisher’s recurring subscription, becoming profitable to the Publisher

KP is best summarised by Paddy DeLaney — Frega Co Founder/CEO:

  • With the initial release of KP we are only using 10% of the power of Algolia indexing — as we add content/ new applications and start indexing chat / apply mapping (What3Words) we unlock huge value for Frega members
  • Every published answer is indexed/stored with length and size impacting Algolia indexing and our storage costs and paying a further 12.5 upgrade covers the increased cost with 30% returning in assets/ dividends to subscriber etc
  • plus having text indexed and Ai enhanced search provider a much better outcome than Substack
  • KnowledgePlus presents a much better alternative to www.Substack.com in the content of published articles are indexed and when search is used all articles/content on the subject is presented
  • in addition with Substack the only way publishers are able to monetise their content is through a subscription model.
  • KP allows publishers to monetise all their content from day one (first article) and in many different ways.
  • With the addition of our KP editing function and better layout with headers etc, the 12.5 is optional if the Publisher wants to go beyond 1000 and have long documents indexed and with AI better connecting to profiled audience

To finally conclude, when we look at a comparison compiled by G2.com between Google and Algolia before it acquired Search.io Reviewers felt that Algolia met the needs of their business better than Google Custom Search.

Algolia definitely is giving Google a run for its money and with its recent acquisition of Search.io, it will be a very interesting tech space to watch.
